Dimensioned Survey
The prestigious Bedford College Sixth form building had retained much of its original wall and window buildup since it's construction, over 100 years ago. We undertook a full dimensional and photographic survey over a period of weeks to accurately record the current condition and layout of the building for input into thermal modelling software (EDSLTas). The survey included annotations as to the wall thicknesses, window type, openable area and condition comments.
Due to the building being fully operational during the survey period, visits to site were undertaken before the sixth form opened each day (6-8am), allowing for the engineer to return to the office and submit a dimensioned, annotated CAD drawing with photographs each day over an 8 week period.
Key Deliverables:
- Dimensioned Survey
- Photographic Survey
- Scheduled Window Types
- Openable area calculations
- Daily electronic issue
The regular digital issue of the survey information allowed for an effective collaborative workflow, enabling the thermal modelling engineer to immediately proceed with the design and make comments in areas requiring more detail.
